Support for Students with disabilities

Overview

The University of Ioannina Student Social Support and Disability Services was established in 2016 and aims to support and develop good practices to help the disabled students of the university deal with the difficulties they face.

Each academic department of the university is represented in the Committee by an advisor professor, who is a faculty member. The role of the advisor is to act as a link between students with disabilities and the teaching staff of the department, as well as with the university authorities. Students with disabilities can reach the advisor professor for issues concerning their studies, and the advisor addresses them.

The Accessibility and Social Support Unit of the University of Ioannina was established to cover the lack of infrastructure that existed in the University regarding matters of equal access to facilities and educational processes. Means and tools are provided for everyone and especially for students who for various reasons face difficulties in their studies.

The mission of the Unit is to create a favorable educational environment at the University of Ioannina to support students who, for medical or other social reasons, face functional and educational difficulties in completing their studies
